Ha~ I just saw this on "what's new" and have only read the initial post, then noticed it was from Nov. My thought was since you offered to help with a couple, send her the 2 you finished and return the list with 9 names-crossing out the 2 you made quilts for and send them back to her.
But since this is almost 2 months old I guess I'll post the comment and look at the latter comments.

Just read the last few postings. You may never get a picture. I often send packages through some of the support groups and one of the instructions is that you may not ever hear back from them. They are busy, usually in life threatening situations, and with limited down time. You of course have a connection to them, whereas my involvement was as a stranger, and my preference is that if they only have time for one letter I would rather it be to their family member. Another thing I have learned is a lot of those in Afghanistan are in remote places and some have little or no px and may not have much resources for taking a picture. If your (ex) dil sent a disposable camera with a padded, self addressed, stamped envelope you might get pic. I know their letters are postage free but a camera in an envelope might be a package and don't know for sure if those would be postage free. Suggest it to her maybe you'd get some pic.

Thank you Starshine...i think we are all very much aware that we cannot begin to understand the conditions these brave guys are facing. Our hope for a photo was merely as a connection to them - a face to put with a name - i have thought of the 3 fellows by name every day since i got involved and wished them safe. But this was all about them, not us - and one of the reasons that i put my recipients names and a message on each quilt - but didn't sign it. So if we don't get a photo - we don't ...as i said earlier - they got our gifts - each made for one of them personally - and that's all that really mattered. Happy New Year.

Just thought I would let you know that I have asked numerous times for photos. I have quit asking. Only a few of the soldiers have cameras in their phones and it is hard to get any pictures from them. I have heard they loved them and are using the quilts, but it doesn't look like we will get any photos. I have heard from others who have done this with other units, that you are lucky to get photos back. Should I ever get a photo, I will post it! Love to you all and thank you.

Yep, it seems like for these guys they'd want a reasonably long one and not very wide because it is a bunk bed/cot. But the dimensions were given to the group. Do you think that it didn't really matter too much about the dimensions?
