Oh and here's another idea. Look at quilt blocks! Some of them make great borders on their own. Think about putting a small block on point for accent border. A small 4 patch, flying geese, log cabin, etc. Border can be what ever you want it to be.

This one is my favorite border, although after you asked, I went looking and discovered that most of my quilts don't have borders!

Check out the round robins and you'll find lots of borders. Here is a link to the finished quilts in IRR-II in 2010. You will see lots of different borders and they're magnificent.

As a note, I made my bricks 4.5", 5.5", & 6.5". It was super easy.
