Alright, all you people who have made those beautiful twisted bargello's!!! I have a question for you and would like your opinion. I really want to make a bargello. I found a pattern for a 12" bargello block and made it the other day. March 19th actually. I have found patterns for the rippled type but I'd like to make a twisted one. I don't have any books on Bargellos.

So, here is the question. I have been drawing out my own pattern for what I want and I want to know if you think it will work for my pattern? I understand the concept of making one, I think. Here is a picture of my "Experience" and a picture of the pattern I'm making. So, how about it???? You think this will work? I can't wait to hear what you think. And thank you for your opinions, in advance.
Marilyn

I too want to make a Bargello quilt. Hopefully, someone with some experience will be able to give you advice on your design. I really like it, but don't have the experience to assure you that it will work.:)

Check your library. If they don't have a good bargello book, ask about inter-library loan. Most libraries are connected to others and can find many more books for you than they have in their own shelves.

I just got a twisted bargello book from our library and took it right back! It was totally out of my league. I need to stick with the standard ones for awhile.

Look at QuiltersTV and see if the Billie Lauder bargello video is still up. I used it to make my first bargello and was very pleased with how it went together.

Danmar,
Here is the tutorial that cathieg wrote up on hers.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-17516-1.htm

I bought the book and found out later that it was cheaper on amazon. Oh well ... I have been auditioning colors for one too. Funny if you check her tutorial out, look at the date. It must be that time of year. LOL!

Thank you for suggesting the library. I never even thought of that. As for the Billie Lauder Bargello video, it is still up. I watched it this morning. I may just make a regular one to start but I don't know.

Somewhere on this site this AM there was a link to Quilter's TV for a video showing how to make bargellos by Billie Lauder. It is really good. Go to Resources (middle top) and on the drop down menu, click Search. On search, put bargellos. There is the video and a pattern. Here's the link. Marilyn

I have that pattern for a twisted bargello. I even have the fabric, but I'm intimidated by it. Someday......maybe.

I'm going for it, without a pattern. I'm making a twisted bargello. If you haven't seen "My Experimental Bargello", here's a link to it. Please don't follow along making your own though, since I don't even know if it will turn out.

Hope you like it. It's looking pretty good now.
