I've been trying to learn more about color and the color wheel. I bought the book "Color For the Terrified Quilter", which I like, but I will never have the time to do all the projects they have to practice and the mock ups with fabric glued to paper. I just won't.

So I've been doing something else to practice color combinations and get a better handle on this.

I print out quilt coloring pages that I've found for free online (google "quilt coloring page") and then pick a color combination and color them using those colors (crayons or colored pencils, which as it's the beginning of the school year, are cheap now at Wally World). Yes, it lacks the zing of print fabrics, but it's a lot faster and cheaper, and I can spend time coloring with my kids and also indulge my quilty side.

wonderful way to learn! When I was trying to do my first quilts, I also used color pencils. I tried doing patterns on graph paper and coloring in the blocks. Fun, and I had a colored chart to follow when I actually made the quilt.

Color Magic For Quilters is another excellent book, written by two sisters and I read it front to back after opening. It's that good, and has many, many examples with each chapter.
I use it for a go-to book a lot. :-D

Grammy - thanks for the link, that looks like a pretty neat color wheel.

Another thing frustrating me about that book I have: it only goes into complementary, tetradic, and analogous colors, and it was not enough for me. I knew there were more ways to come up with color groups, with more colors.
