I have the Quilter's Pocket Reference http://www.amazon.com/The-Quilters-P.../dp/0964224704. Nothing so ambitious as to techniques, just a really handy reference guide for bed sizes; # of strips to cut for various size bindings; how to do binding; number of x size blocks/cuts from various size pieces of fabric; etc. For the price, a handy little book to have on hand.

As reference books, I swear by The Quilter's Academy series by Harriet and Carrie Hargrave. While these teach perfect technique, you can always dial back according to your own disposition.
While there are now 4+ volumes, you need not purchase any that exceed your ambitions.

Oh yes--use her Shape by Shape all the time and her Free Motion Quilting is also good for getting started on LA or DSM---shape by Shape is more a reference for me. Has anyone ordered her Vol 2 of Shape by Shape?
