I am making the Orion Star with Thangles. Involves triangles turned different ways. Not hard. I make the first six units with one set of colors. Perfect. I am flying along! I take them down from the design wall and set them aside.

I start the second set of coordinating colors. Make a unit. Put it up on my design wall. This was my mistake. Im such a dunce. I used this one as a pattern without looking really close. 20 sets of 8 triangles later I try to put the big block together and it doesnt go. They are all pieced facing the wrong way. I rip them apart.

I will be danged if I dont do it AGAIN!!! except this time I turn them 90 degrees the other way. By this time, they are a wobbly mess. Luckily the pattern allows for extra and I am not short fabric or Thangles.

I had planned on sewing all evening....I think TV sounds good right now.

I always take a break when I do something like this. Come back to it the next day and it works perfectly. But if I don't take the break, I keep making mistake after mistake.

spray starch and iron them and reuse the fabrics will work if you are not rough wiht them. I will walk away for the project and start a new on to get out of the brain strain rut.

I think a little TV is definitely in order...take your mind off the darn thing! I always hate it when I do something like that (and believe me, I've been there!). You'll get it all together after some R & R.

TV, chocolate, and wine tonight. You'll do fine when you go back to them. (Ask me how I know this...)

Yup, been there, done something similar. I promised my great-niece her birthday quilt from October. I told her I would have it finished to give to her on Thanksgiving. Still working on it tonight. I'm dead tired from cooking and baking, but I will be finished in less than an hour if nothing else goes wrong. We're a persistent crew!!

You are not a dunce. I made a mistake on my grandson's quilt and had to sit and think about how to keep going and make it look like the mistake was done on purpose. Sometimes it is good to just walk away for a little while, or overnight, and then start again.

make lemonade ! can you just reverse the pattern ? I would not take them apart--I'd find some way to use them. but sorry it happened to you ! but I smiled because I think all of us have done such a blunder at one time--and then did it all over again. I rip twice, but that is the limit. use them, put in scrap bag, or--if I am really frustrated, they might go in the garbage. but I grab them back out the next day after I cool off a little.

How frustrating. When I do that I have to take a time out and come back later.
