Default Insul-Bright

I am making pot holders with some of my scrap material. I purchased the Insul-Bright Needlepunched Insulated Lining -45" x 1 yard and have that sandwiched between 2 layers of cotton batting. My question is... will that "crackling" noise go away?

In my experience, it has not gone away. I now tend to use about 4 layers of scrap cotton batting in my potholders instead.

Thank you for your response.... I bought 1 yard and will probably use all of this up... but I don't know if I will buy more if my pot holders will be "crackling" So you feel 4 layers of batting is enough for the heat... do you think its low loft batting or high loft? I generally use the Quilter's Dream Batting - Natural Cotton Request - thin loft.... so I wonder if 4 layers of that would be enough? What do you think?

Sunny850 - that is good news that you feel the crackling goes away. I only bought a yard of the insul bright.... and I have about 16 potholders that I will finish.... just trying to decide if I should buy more of the insul bright or just use extra batting....................

I have several potholders with insul-brite and after some use and washing, none of them make that "crinkly" noise anymore. They did for awhile at first, but eventually it quiets down.

The crinkling noise has gone away on mine too after using them awhile.

I don't know how you would quilt thru 4 layers of W&N batting. That would certainly be a difficult task I would not put my Bernina thru. For potholders, I use one layer of W&N with the Insul-Bright. The noise doesn't bother me as long as it protects my fingers and hand from being scorched.

I heavily quilt mine and don't notice any crinkling noise. You maybe need more quilting?

This is my favorite method as well.
