Italian Fabric stores
Does anyone know of a fabric store near Sorento? I have a friend going to Italy and she wants to buy some fabric in Italy. She cannot seem to find anything on the internet, maybe asking the wrong questions. What is Italian for fabric?
Thanks for any help

My understanding is that patchwork quilting is not as big a hobby in Italy as it is here. I study the Italian language and my Italian-born teacher could not think of an Italian word which conveyed the idea of a patchwork quilt. Perhaps things have changed, but don't be surprised if quilting stores are hard to find.

It is doubtful she will be able to find any quilting fabric as it is an American craft. It is growing in popularity in Italy, but fabric is imported from usa and very expensive. If you are looking for fabric, silk, wool and linen, the best deals are to be found at the open markets. Not the tourist/souvenir markets, but the local weekly/farmers markets.
