I hand quilted a 1940's SILK GMFG, queen size, for 1/10 of what I would charge to do it again. No thank you....beautiful, but unless it's for me or an heirloom for one of my kids, my answer is "Nope, sorry...."...I salute you, sir!

Always look forward to your posts Don, your work is always amazing and I am in awe of the amount you get done. No idea what to charge....but make sure it's a reasonable amount, can't think of anyone in my neck of the woods even offering a handquilting service. Thanks for sharing. all the best from the land of Aus.

I would charge £200 upwards depending on time taken.

I hand quilted one of those once a long time ago. I don't know if I would have the patience now to do one by hand. My hands get too sore also. They are beautiful when done though. I appreciate all the time that goes in to it. You are a brave man Don!!

As a hand quilter I would have no problem with that top. I would never think of making it in the first place. The idea of piecing all of those little pieces, if I was crazy enough to create them in the first place, would never occur to me. Quilting them would be a tedious process but doable. I could get a lot of TV or movie viewing in the process.

Beautiful pieced top and I'm sure your quilting will be beautiful. No idea as to what I would charge. I have found that people don't want to pay me the amount for just the fabric let alone to have something hand quilted.

My opinion? Considering the time involved, the skill involved, I would say four figures, and the numbers two five zero zero keep popping into my head.

Beautiful quilt. Looks like one my grandmother made. The Amish where I take my quilts charge by how much thread they use!
