Don, congratulations on your patience to hand quilt this. Whatever you are charging it isn't enough.

I agree with winia - two five zero zero / and not $25. I have frequently heard of charging by the spool of thread but don't know the figures.

Knowing the work that goes into a quilt. And hexie's quilts aren't easy. Whatever the price I couldn't afford it. I hope you get a fair amount.

Be fair, more than fair actually, to yourself and charge a good amount. I would guess that $800 to $1000 might be reasonable. Do not give discounts. I have done 2 paid for projects and didn't charge enough and hated the projects way before the finish but I stuck to it and finished them. DH's coworker now wants something. I told DH $300 up front and we can talk. Haven't heard back.

You have your work cut out for you. But you do such wonderful work, it's no wonder your always being asked to do your hand quilting. I still do a lot of hand work as well as machine too, I know for me it's always easy to tell someone else what they should charge. But when it comes to charging for myself, I always short change myself. With that said, you need to be fair to yourself with your time and also with what your not able to do as your doing this commision. I know I will be low, but your fees should be at least 2000.00. Good luck I hope you get a price that makes you HAPPY. Thank you for sharing

I am not sure there is a price you could charge where you would receive what you earn.

I must say 'oh, wow!' and agree with others about your workmanship. The quilt will be a treasure when you are finished.

Do you use a floor quilting frame or do you hold the hoop in your lap?

I don't see pins holding the layers together. Is it basted? What is your preferred batting?

I will be following your post and progress on this quilt. Happy stitching!
