Hi everybody. I am interested in buying a new sewing machine but I have no idea where there are any dealers. I live in SE Kansas, so we can go towards Joplin/Springfield, Missouri or down towards Tulsa/Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Does anyone know if there are sewing machine stores where they have all the different brands to try out at once? Or am I going to have to go to several stores? Also, if you live in an area mentioned above and know of a good dealer, could you please let me know? I would appreciate any help you can offer.
Thank you very much!
Marilyn

There is a Janome dealer in Tulsa, at 51st and Sheridan. (I have NOT had good service with them and wouldn't recommend.)

There is also a Babylock Dealer (SewB Inn)and a small shop that has several different lines- he fixes everything and I think he sells Juki (for sure) and Necchi and Pfaffs. If you PM me tomorrow, I'll get you more specific info.

There is no sewing machine shop in Bartlesville, unless it's brand new. When I lived there, I had to come to Tulsa for repairs.

My suggestion is just don't get a Viking Saphire of any kind ...Even some of the people that work at Viking say there has been a lot of trouble with them. I have a Viking Designer I and love it and a Babylock Espire and love it, but hated the Saphire. I had 3 different ones, all new when I got them, straight out of the box and had problems. The fabric shop I frequent sells Janome and I know a lot of people now who have Janomes and they love them. All I have talked to say they have ever had a problem. Problem is...you can't buy these on line. You can only get them from a dealer.

What kind do you have now?

Hi Eagle Hawk,

I have a Singer, now which isn't working. I also have a Coronado that was given to me a few years ago, which has problems and only works about half of the time. And I had bought another one, a Singer, that I took back as it had problems. (It was used.) So, the only one I have to sew on now is the Coronado. But not for long!!!

Thanks, Marilyn

I have to agree with HazelJane. Sewing machines of Tulsa carry Janome and Brother, maybe Viking, not sure. They are on the NW Side of 51st & Sheridan. B Sew Inn (best dealer IMHO) is on the SE Corner of 51st and Sheridan in *The Farm* Shopping Center. Go south past 51st on Sheridan and it is a large gray building on the left. They are a Babylock only dealer. The Quilt Sampler is a Pfaff dealer, they are located about a mile south of the other 2 on the West side of Sheridan just before you get to 61st. I'm not familiar the Juki dealer she mentioned. HazelJane, can you elaborate? Is that where you got your 98Q?

edited to add: Sew Flakes in Broken Arrow is a Bernina dealer I think.

American Sewing is a little store on 11th Street, between Harvard and Yale, I think. It's a hole in the wall. I didn't get my Juki there, but I take my older machines there for repair. I trust them. I don't know about Janome, besides Sewing Machines of Tulsa.

What machine did you decide to purchase? I'm looking at the Baby Lock Melody for the fact of the dealer support. I've looked at the Janome and like them as well but not sure of the support I would get (my feeling was confirmed with the previous remark earlier in this thread.

Quilt Sampler at Sheridan and 61st in Tulsa carries Pfaff, Bernina and Brother. They have lots of different machines in stock to try and they are wonderful to work with, highly recommended. (They also carry several brands of Long Arms)
