I have a 3022 which I have successfully made button hole with. Only lately when I have tried to make button holes it starts out seemingly okay the suddenly about 1/2 way up acts as though it has reach the full length cuts over to sew the end starts down the other side only then it actually does go the full length. So you end up with one side full lenght the other only 1/2 done. What is going on, anyone know. I can't figure why it has suddenly started doing this. :( not a happy camper

I own two Janomes and have never had this kind of problem with either one. As a matter of fact, I've never had any problems with either one.
If this DID happen I think I'd run to my nearest repair shop or Janome dealer and have it checked. Maybe your Janome is just a little bit sick and only needs a tiny adjustment.
Good luck! 8)

I agree with Bev. I would have it checked out by a Janome repairman.
I have a Janome and have never had this particular problem.

I have not had that problem with my Janome. I would call the repair shop first, it may be something you are doing with the settings. :?

I have that exact Janome Deb and have to say I have made many button holes w/it and have never had that happen. It would be my first guess that the button may not be laying flat in the tray causing the measuring difference. I also agree to go thru all the directions to make sure you have done all the steps correctly. If then, it still is missing on the stitches, I'd call your service people and see if it is a simple adjustment on your end or an explaination to the why. Do tell what you find out for that just in case...:)Skeat

My instruction book (Janome) troubleshoots buttonhole problems by saying the stitch density may not be suitable to the fabric being sewn. Maybe it's taking a while to catch, but by then it's too late to catch up. I would check everything - after a good long break, that is.

i've had that problem with the 8000, on and off. it starts by itself and recovers by itself. if it happens again, it's going to the hospital.

now i always test on a scrap first. if it's sick, i want to know in advance.
