I have never purchased jelly rolls and was wondering how wide are the pieces cut? Thanks for your answers.

2 1/2 inches by width of fabric! Usually 40/42 fabrics They are usually from the same collection of fabrics. Great for quick quilts, good books to follow are those written by Pam and Nicky Lintott ie Jelly Roll Quilts.

I love jelly rolls...but read the fine print before you buy. Moda is pretty consistent to the 40-42 strips, but there are some that are not packaged 40-42 strips per roll. You see it alot on eBay, but I've also seen various ones in online shops that were much less than that. For instance, Connecting Threads assortments are usually 24 pieces. The best way to compare is to take the price and divide by how many strips, then compare the individual strip price.

I really wasn't going to buy a jelly roll, but I found a pattern and was going to cut my own from my stash and make the quilt and wanted to be sure to have the right measurements.
