Personalizing FMQ
I'm taking a Craftsy class on machine quilting with Wendy Butler Berns (I think that's her name). Anyway she was talking about inspiration for FMQ designs. She talked about looking around, using designs in fabric. Then it hit me! I'm quilting a quilt for me, the first one I've made for myself. The pattern is a DNP with wine themed fabric. I did SID squares that show well on the muslin on the back. Since it's for me I'm experimenting. So for my FMQ I am FMQ wine glasses in the squares. I hope I can post a picture of it when I'm finished.

My friend quilted my DGD's b-day quilt on her long-arm, and at the bottom on the border she put MMM 2013 for my DGD's initials! I was thrilled, what a great "I spy" for her to find and cherish! Just a lovely extra touch, don't you think?

My first attempt at quilting on my long arm frame was a rail fence for my son. I quilted a meandering pattern all over it but here and there I put in hearts, stars and even his name. Don't know if he found them, or if he even looked! But it was fun.

I recently quilted a Western themed quilt for a friend, it had horses and lariats all over it - so I used lariats and cowboy boots to do the quilting. It was a lot of fun! I love coming up with things to use in my quilting!

I want to make a quilt of cowboy boots, each block with a different boot. My plan for the quilting is to quilt the ranch brands of all the local ranchers. This quilt would be to honor my Dad and all the ranchers in the same valley where he grew up. Got it all planned out in my mind anyway.
