Default JoAnn's has done it again...............

I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate the JoAnn Fabrics in Roseville, Minnesota (by Rosedale). I was in the other day loading up on what I needed (especially now since prices are skyrocketing all over the place and winter is a'comin'). I needed some white on white and ecru on ecru for sashing and background color in my quilts and thought, end of bolt! So I grabbed up some fabric that had the least amount of fabric on the bolt and this wonderful salesperson at the cutting table explained to me the secret of buying end of bolt fabric. I came home with about eight yards of different designs and saved a "whole bunch of money"! I also had a 40% off and rather than (for my convenience) cut two double sizes and two coverlet sizes, she told me to cut one big piece and save the 40%. It also eliminates a lot of coupons, some of which you can't use anyhow!!!! I did spend a tidy amount of money, but I got enough to make at least four quilts and now I can honestly say, I am looking forward to winter!

I have a bookcase here full of fabric and I am going to use a lot of it. I have a birthday coming up and my sister said "What would you like for your birthday?" "Fabric - fat quarters." She gets me the most gorgeous pieces of fabric. And they all compliment each other. Some of them I hate to use. But I do - for a special block!!! Ever just like to sit there and look and feel? That's how I get sometimes.

So, anyhow, I just wanted to say that the people working at the cutting table at my JoAnn's are the best in the US. They know what they are doing, they know tips, they know coloring (if you are in doubt about a color), they are quilters and I just think they are the greatest.

    Happy Quilting!!!!!

Now, if you will excuse me I am going to sit at my sewing table and sew me up a few blocks before the day starts. Edie

I am so glad you have such an enjoyable place to shop. My Joannes is great too...when I am not in for a while, they worry since I spend so much time in the hospital...I also have a wonderful fabric person at my Walmart too..Just because they are big stores doesn't mean they have no service..I think it all depends on the store manager and what they expect from their associates.

So please don't keep us in suspense, what is the *secret of buying end of bolt fabric ? I know that for instance if I want 2 1/2 yds of fabric and after rolling it out there's 2 7/8 yds ....they will offer the 3/8 to you for 50% off.... So is that the secret ?

I buy lots of end of the bolts fabrics at JoAnnes and have never gotten a special price or a discount for buying it. I didn't know there could be a special price for buying them. My Daughter was charged full price for remnants that she bought, after checking her receipt she went back in and told them. They gave her back the money she should have saved. We really have to watch the ones we go to, two and our area.

I also love end of bolt discounts. Our Joann's has just moved into a new larger and nicer location but I haven't had the opportunity to stop in yet. I try to frequent the LQS as much as possible. We are lucky to have a large number of them within driving distance here in E Iowa.

We've got much better service since the move to the bigger store. I didn't know about the end-of-bolt thing. I do a lot of end of bolt buying. I'll be on the lookout for this bargain.

All the stores where I normally shop have end of the bolt discounts. I was at Joanns of REdding CA a few days back to get quarter yards of fancy fabrics for a crazy quilt I am making. I happened to see a lovely bit on a table behind the cutter. By taking the whole piece (1/2 yd), I got it at 50% off. I also got a 10% discount on everything. I showed my guild card and got a discount card at the register.

Pix of 4 unembroidered blocks and part of one that's completed.
