A lady in my quilt group asked me to help her with a machine because the bottom threads were very loose. I looked in the bobbin area and cleaned it out because it was very full of lint. Of course, we laughed because I dropped the bobbin out and it went rolling. This is an old Singer and it has the bobbin under the machine. We still couldn't get it to stitch correctly and our 83 year young leader told us how to thread the needle. She insisted it was from left to right! Finally, I asked her to come and thread it and she tried a couple of ways before she got it to working. I asked her which way she threaded it and she told me from the front. I didn't say anything to her but I let the person sewing on that machine know it was from the right to the left like she originally thought. . Our leader obviously didn't realize she went through the right side! It did stitch beautifully. Now we know that Singer goes from right to left. Our leader has 5 other old machines in her basement where we sew on Tuesdays. She is very sharp and usually right on with her machines but not this time. But we love her dearly!
