I love the colors and designs but has anyone else noticed that the weight of the fabrics seems to be significantly less than other manufacturers? I am using quite a bit of the Kaffe Fassett "woven haze stripes" in a hand-pieced quilt that I hope will last for generations in my family. Now I'm starting to regret the choice of fabric because I'm afraid it won't stand the test of time. Any suggestions on how to reinforce it so it doesn't fall apart with washings over the years?

Yes, I have noticed it. It seems like his newer stuff is better than six years ago, though. No, I have no idea how to make it last longer other than to quilt it heavily and don't wash it very often.

apply a non-woven stablizer-
you can get sew-in stablizer or fusable- but get a leave in one- they are very light weight but it is amazing the difference it makes

That is why I have practically no Kaffe fabrics. I also noticed they tend to be more expensive then other quilt shop quality fbaric.

I was thinking some kind og stabilzer would be good but I've never used one. Why is "non-woven" important? Also, what does "sew-in" mean? Can I still hand quilt through these materials?

I agree, not the weight they used to be and spoke with my favorite kaffe shop about it-others have complained. The woven stripes and shot cottons have always been lighter. Hard not to love the prints/colors.

for the price, i feel i shouldn't have to add a stabilizer of any kind.

I've never used those, but I seen numerous comments about how "flimsy" those fabrics seem.

& I also agree-at those prices, I don't feel I should have to add stabilizer or interfacing to the fabric.

I don't like his prints, but I did buy one that caught my eye probably about 6 years ago. I didn't know it was a "kaffe" but I was really disappointed in it. It's expensive enough as is, I shouldn't have to add any stabilizer
