I like John James #8 needles for size # 8 Perle cotton when doing red work. Maybe go up a size?

I have yet,to tried a needle threader, on my list, will be going to the
Plano quilt show, will checkout John James # 8, love the perle cotton,
but wanted to try something different, I do a lot of big stitch lately,
and enjoy the thicker thread. thanks !

I use the larger size Richard Hemming betweens when using crochet thread #10. Often it does take a needle threader, but sometimes I can get it done with "spit", pulling through my teeth to flatten the thread, and beeswax-ing the thread.

You just gave me a great idea -- my granddaughter needs some pearl cotton for a project and we couldn't find it in the right size -- I had her start with embroidery thread but I now think I will get crochet thread for her! Of course then I will need to find the right sized needle! Hope you found an answer to your questions.

    Nammie,
I use these by Richard Hemming & Son Chenille size 24 Large eye Needles.
for my size 12 perle cotton, also checkout this Crochet thread by lizbeth size 20
Egyptian cotton, found it at Hobby Lobby. has a nice sheen feeling to it.works for both.
hoping this helps!. Also get a Needle Gripper for her not to struggle to pull her Needle.
You can find it at Fons & Porter. They are great !
