Log Cabin Star Quilt Pattern
#12
Imreally want to see what you do eventually come up with.
I am ot sure but I think it is Jan Krentz or whoever has her name on those diaqmond templates. I htink I got mine at Joanne's years ago.
That is a start. Then there is a free site online where you can print out graph paper in various designs: squares, rectangles, triangles, diamonds .... etc.
Print out whichever you want to play with and get out your crayons and enjoy our version of quilting kindergarten.
Any questions you have I can't do more right now. Just got home from hospital and am on steroids and such - so it will take quite awhile to get at what I need or reference. That includes no quilting til maybe ??? next week. I can use my little notebook and design with my EQ6 and my QuiltCAD.

Here's one that's free. The stars form in the corners when the blocks are put together.

I also found a couple on the Country Threads site, but they cost $8 each.
Hope this helps.

I am looking for a log cabin quilt pattern. I want a pattern that uses log cabin blocks that make
a star when put together. An Amish friend of mine asked me if I could find her this kind of pattern.
I have looked online for a free pattern with no luck so far. Is there anyone out there that would like
to share a pattern with me. I woud greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance if you could help my
friend and I out.

Try this book:
the Classic American Quilt Collection: Log Cabin (Rodale Press, 1994). The pattern is called "Summer Night" on pages 68-75. It is paper pieced and is a star in a star. Outer star is "non-traditional" being that it has 16 points. It is not a compass block, but a star.
If you have trouble finding the book, PM me and I will send you a copy of the pattern.

I think you would like the Eleanor Burns Star Log Cabin pattern book. I chose denim looking blue prints for the Logs and rust for the stars (and still looking forward to getting it sewn). Best of luck in your choices.
