I have a request to make a fireplace mantel piece and am looking for a pattern. I've never made one before and have a pattern in a book, but its a log cabin type and I don't want to make it that fancy. I've googled and can't seem to find anything.
You would think with the gazillion books I have, I would find more than one pattern!!!! LOL!

Thanks for your help!

Try googling christmas mantle covers as I am sure I have seen several when checking out xmas patterns, you might get some inspiraton from them. I will check my stock of patterns on the laptop too :D

That one is nice, but the pattern just basically shows how to make the fan part. Maybe with the one I have and this one, I can figure something out.

Tricia,
I have been watching a lot of black and White TV. The mantle runners were used to keep the saute away from the walls. Wow, great idea, it has carried to only now a decoration but they had a need.

How about for your .. "What did you learn today?" thing.

This lady wants it to cover the whole mantel and drop a certain way. I think I'll be able to adjust this one pattern that I have and the thoughts that I have in my head!!!! I wish I had a fireplace to measure it on. Thanks for your help.

My impression is that the cover is 'boxed' to fit exactly so you will need to find the exact length of her mantlepiece if so...that way it won't slide off, unless you tack it on....no help really am I????

You might visit the simply quilts site on HGTV's website. I know she had a lady on there that did some really pretty ones. It might be archived there somewhere.
