I've seen a photo of a finished quilt that has what I would call kaleidoscopes.....each one looks like it has about 8-10 triangles cut from the exact same design and then joined together like a pinwheel. Each pinwheel will come out differently depending on where in the fabric design it's cut.

Does anyone know where to find directions for something like this? Many thanks for your help! Happy New Year!!

One Block Wonders or Stack and Whack both look like this. There really haven't been many tutes that we have found on these techniques...no complete ones that I have found yet. You pretty much have to buy the books :D:D:D

As far as I know, marti mitchell started the kalidescopes craze ...

"Kaleidoscope ABCs" is the newset one. The book is on her web site along with the kaleidoscope ruler she developed to make them easier.

    Here is the link ....

Yep, that is called a stack and wack and I did one about ten yrs ago. Do not have the book or I would send it to you. Maybe some one on e-bay etc. might have a copy for sale. I only did one, came out nice but was not my thing.

There is a pattern called 4 Patch Posies that uses the stack and whack method but the blocks are square. It's amazing the look you can get.

It sounds like a kaleidoscope quilt. I haven't found a good pattern for one.
