Looking for a table runner
I am looking for a pattern to make a table runner for Christmas. I have a BIG table so it's almost impossible to buy anything big enough. 47 wide X 104 long (when opened for dinner). The dishes I have has a ribbon and holly pattern. Does anything come to mind?? Or even something that can be jiggled to work?? Anything come to mind?

I used a bed runner pattern and it fit my long wide table just fine. It will be easy to find fabrics to match your china. For a change up for different holidays, I made three long table runners and placed them cross wise on the table.

Red/green/white Bargello would be pretty. How about the Triangle Frenzy table runner done with a border print. I think you can do that pattern as long as you like and it kind of looks like a twisted ribbon design.

Jenny Doan did a Zig Zag table runner with charm packs and she said you can make it as long as you like, just keep adding rows. It is on the MSQC website and it is called the zig-zag charm pack table runner.

I used this free pattern to make a long runner for my girlfriend's dining room table. I used fabric colors that would compliment her fiesta ware. I just kept adding panels until the runner was as long as I needed it to be.

I was going to suggest the free pattern that lalaland did. You could double the size by starting with 18-18.5" square and using 2.5" strips for the french braid. I see lalaland added a border. That adds width, too.

Whatever you decide will be lovely with your china, but I have always wanted to make Shabby Fabrics Christmas runner using scraps and their lovely appliqued border seen here:

which would go great with your ribbon and holly patterned dishes.
