Here is a curious question..... do right handed people use their right foot on the sewing machine peddle and do left handed people use their left? Just curious here. I am looking at having my right knee replaced and am playing around with using my left foot on the peddle and was wondering if using the left foot was a natural to some of you.

I am right handed, but I use either foot on my pedal. Both are comfortable for me.

I normally use my right foot (I'm right handed), but I did have to use my left for about a week when I cut my foot. It felt very weird :-D :-D

I'm left handed and have always used my right foot. I think because I started sewing on a machine that had a knee control on the right side so just learned to adapt. You know, don't you, that since the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body that only left handed people are in their right mind! =)

I'm right handed and just naturally use my right foot...I'm going to try the left later just to see for myself if I can. You made me curious :-D

yes suzee, my brother has told me that all my life! he is also amadexerous (close on the spelling?)and switches in the middle of a letter. He had started out left handed in school and the grade school teacher said it was wrong and used to whack him across the nuckles with a ruler to make him write with his right hand. (this was in the early 50's.) she didn't do that anymore after dad went up there and set her straight.

Left handed, use right foot for your survey, not sure that I can switch, have never tried it.

I have a bunch of nerve damage in my left leg and foot. I can not drive a stick because I don't have enough downward pressure to push a clutch, which also means I don't have enough pressure to push a machine pedal! But I am right handed so I think it would be natural for me to use my right foot even if my left leg was normal!

I'm a right hander but use my left foot. I was told by a quilt teacher that it was better for my back, sure was. Now it's just natural instinct. I've been doing it for about 7 years now.
It did feel strange at first but now I don't even notice.

I am left handed but use my right foot. it's like driving a car for me, the left foot stays out of the way unless there is a clutch for shifting. :-)
