McKenna Ryan showroom
This last week I was in Washington (State) on Bainbridge Island. My sister took me to the McKenna Ryan Art Quilt and Fabric Showroom, which is in Winslow.
I very much admire her work but have never been tempted to tackle a pattern. It's all very pretty but beyond my capabilities, so it was really cool to see the finished quilts. There were full quilts and wall hangings made up and displayed, with the pattern and kits available.
It looked to me like the pieces were fused down and then stitched with clear threads all around the edges. The fabric was all beautiful batiks.
I bought a set of fat quarters folded like a star, plus two more fqs. I figured out that it was the highest price per yard I've ever paid for quilting fabric, but what the heck, it was my vacation!
I recommend visiting the museum if you are ever in the area. Here's a link:
