well for one buy treated fabric or treat your own with Bubble Jet set and then in Bubble jet rinse to keep the photos soft like regular fabric.
i had photos put on fabric at a copy shop years and years ago and they are sort of stiff like large pics on t-shirts.

If you decide to go with prepared fabric, C. Jenkins company (google the name) is a source for wonderful cotton, all ready to use in your printer.

I have made two large memory quilts with pictures of my parents after my father's passing. I used pretreated fabric on them and was not really happy with it as it felt stiff. I have used Bubble Jet and treated my own cotton fabric and have been pleased with it although I have not used the Bubble Jet rinse. I iron the fabric to freezer paper and then cut to an 8 1/2 x 11 inch size so that it will go through my inkjet printer at home. Works great. I love to make memory picture pillows and small wallhangings. These you don't have to worry so much about washing. Give it a try - quite easy and very rewarding.

Thank you for your input. I have made one memory quilt years ago using T shirt transfer method. It was nice but had the stiff plastic feel. I have worked with the bubble jet and printed my own pictures which I like much better. I was looking for some different ideals with patterns and lay out. Everyone here seems to be so friendly and helpful. I am so glad I found this board.

I am currently working on one for my oldest son and his favorite thing is the dallas cowboys, so i decided since the dallas cowboys use a star as part of their team I am making a quilt using the ohio star and the center being the pictures and then trimming the stars in dallas cowboy fabric. I would design it around the person you are making it for and choosing a block that kind of showcases a center block for your pictures. You can come up with many designs just sit with some graph paper and you can print some of these off the internet and doodle you will come up with something. Good luck

I have made 4, 1 for me and 1 for each of my children. I did use the prepared sheets but then made them the size of a 10 inch block with white cotton and then embroidered on the white. My youngest daughter chose crazy quilt squares for every other square but my oldest daughter and son chose material that they wanted inbetween the pictures as they thought the crazy quilt blocks with all the embroidery made the quilt too busy. I made mine with quazy quilt blocks and blocks made out of special material such as my father's pjs, moms housedresses, the material I used on daughter & son and also material left over from Easter dresses made for the youngest daughter. Sounds horrible but I will try to post a picture of mine later. Good luck! They are great fun to figure out and make but since I still do all quilts by hand and with the embroidery and crazy quilt stitches took me a long, long time to make all four.
