Default Minky on queen or king quilt

I am wondering if anyone has attempted to use Minky as backing on king or queen quilts? I have just completed my first twin size minky backed and had no problems at all. Just wondering if problems will pop up on a larger quilt.

Other then being heavy to get through a regular machine, if you had no trouble with the twin I would think you would be able to go bigger. For me it would make my shoulders ache due to the weight.

Can you buy the Minky wide enough without having to seam it? I'd love to make a bigger quilt with Minky too

It is available 90 inches wide. Not sure if it is Minky brand or possibly Cuddle.

at Guild the presenter had king size that was long armed with Minky--said it was very snuggley--I was one that helped hold quilts and can tell you it was heavy!

Yes, I will be long arming it... and yes, you can buy minky 90" wide, however on my twin, I did not buy it long enough and had to piece it and it was not an issue.

You are very lucky then because the original Minkee was very stretchy like a knit. I was in JAF and noticed they are selling stuff they call Minkee and it wasn't anything like what I bought over 10 years ago.

I've quilted dozens of queen sized quilts with minkie backing. Minkie is a favorite choice from my family. I've never had any problems associated with using minkie.
