I'm new at this so please excuse my lack of knowledge......but what is moda fabric? Is there something special about it? It's the daily deal at Missouri Star. I was just wondering if it is unique in some way.

Moda is the name of a fabric manufacturer. It's very popular with quilters because it's good quality.

whoops - posted same time as Lori - sorry!

You can check out Moda's website, they have previews of fabric:

and a lot of free quilt patterns:

And this website is reader-submitted patterns for things from aprons to quilts and everything in between:

So is this a better quality than I might find at Hobby Lobby or Joanns?

Generally, yes. Joanns and Hobby Lobby have a wider span of fabrics from poor to good. Its not to say you can't get decent fabric there, you have to look more carefully at what you are buying.

Moda has a very good reputation. And, from what I can see, they also participate in charitable contributions
