Oh my, my DH bought me a serger for our anniversary, and I have to say, it sure beats zig zagging my raw material before I wash them. Oh my it's wonderful, I took the material out of the dryer, and they weren't all frayed together, and there were alot less wrinkles.

He is really wonderful, and he doesn't really mind my sewing in the livingroom while he watches TV. He even put up track lighting over my quilting frame to distribute the light more where I need it this weekend. Sorry ladies, I am going to definately keep him.

The serger makes overcasting those raw edges before washing almost a pleasure! :D

I love mine, too. I've been serging my blocks after starching to prepare them for applique - the fabric doesn't get all frayed around the edges while I'm doing the hand work and the thread doesn't keep catching the raw edge.

I also love to serge around the entire outside of a quilted quilt before I put the binding on. It makes the edge clean and compact. I try to take off only a thread or two of the quilt top - really cleans it up and gives me a straight edge.

And isn't that model a breeze to thread??? I LOVE that! :D
