Our DD and her fiance would love a Lone Star quilt top, but I just don't think I can do it! I've only been quilting about a year. I see some on ebay, but don't know how I would attach the fabric all around it. Tell me I can do it! I know you all will give me encouragement! Maybe there's an easy way to do this? Thanks in advance!

Check to see if Eleanor Burns (Quilt In A Day) has one.
I believe they do and it should be an easy version.

When you do it MAKE SURE that you don't change your order of the diamonds or your star will radiate into the corners NOT into the center. Ask me why I say that.

Lone star has lots of bias edges, so make sure you starch your fabric before cutting and don't handle the pieces a lot. Also, when using the ruler to cut the angle, align the edge after every cut. Restraighten if you have to. Again....wish I had known all that before I started mine.

I've seen some that were strip pieced which would cut down on the number of bias edges and make it easier.

Look for a pattern called "No diamonds in the sky".
It's a simpler pattern for the Lone Star without any diamond pieces.

Here are a couple posted by members here.

Perhaps your daughter and you could take a class together-? Would be fun! :)

I bought a lone star pattern from Connecting Threads and it is wonderful. There are no set in seams. Attaching the backing is so easy this way.
