Default My Mother, the Quilter, Is Impressed With My FMQ!!

My 97 year old mother lives about 4.5 hours from me. I visited her over the weekend and took my current project and a completed quilt to show her. My mother was a dressmaker and started hand quilting about 15 years ago. She was very impressed with my FMQ and the detail. I explained to her how it's done. I have tried hand quilting and had problems putting the needle through the sandwich. She was one of those women who went to church twice a week to hand quilt. Her statement was "Look at all of this, it's really something. We just sat there moving the needle in and out." I think it's impressive being able to move the needle in and out!

How wonderful that your Mom recognized your skill! I am a hand quilter learning to FMQ! I am in awe of those who have accomplished the skill !

Very sweet of your Mom! I had my very first quilt in a hand quilting frame about 30+ years ago and my mother-in-law brought a friend of hers (both quilters) to my house. The friend "declared" my quilting to be OK - said nobody would get their toe nails caught in my quilting - LOL.

What a blessing! I know my happiest quilting moment so far was when my grandma took the quilt I made her for Christmas to work with her! I was like a little kid again with her drawing on grandma's desk! So glad you got to share that moment with your mom.
