My version of the Missouri Star Quilt Company Periwinkle Quilt
I have been in love with this pattern for ever (before Missouri Star came out with their tutorial) but couldn't find it anywhere. The M*QC tutorial uses their own template and papers but many have noticed that when it is put together, the points are lopped off. Being frugal (cheap!) I tried for 2 days to make my own template but couldn't get the angles correct. After many fruitless internet searches, I came across this paper pieced pattern on Sewhooked.com and found that this pattern is also known as the "Arkansas Snowflake". I printed off Sewhooked's free foundation papers on paper from a scribble pad that I bought at the Dollar Store for $1 for 60 sheets and off I went. This is for a 6" block which is smaller than the M*QC block but I am making a throw size quilt for myself and wanted to use what I had on hand fabric wise. I have several Moda "Ruby" charm packs so I lopped the charm packs in half for my "kite" section and cut 3.5" X 4" rectangles for the sides. The free foundation pattern is found here http://sewhooked.files.wordpress.com...ke_ofenjen.pdf Here is how I did it and 2 of my blocks sewn together with perfect points. I am sure if you wanted a bigger block, the pattern could be enlarged.

Thank you so much for your post & link! I love this pattern also and went ahead & bought the template with the paper triangle pieces & glue stick from MSQC. You're right ... it doesn't work. I was so disappointed. I then saw the the quilt in the new Quilting Quickly, so I bought the magazine. I immediately noticed that the center wedge template in the magazine was different than the one I received in the set from MSQC. I made my own triangle template from the instructions in the magazine. Made a sample and said a prayer! It worked. Now I know I will make this quilt as I love it. I love the videos from MSQC & Jenny Doan. Just disappointed that the template set was off. Love your fabrics you used! Would love to see the finished quilt.

I am SO HAPPY YOU SHARED! I have had a picture of an old quilt on the front if my pattern album/book forever. Just a pic and no info. I saw a couple weeks ago that MSTQ CO. had a kit of papers, but I don't have the budget.
You have really made may day! Thank you so much! : D

Thank You , I have ordered the template and paper now what to do for i am not wanting my points to be cut off too.
I printed two blocks also and they are so pretty and neat. this a great paper piced block for a beginner. I fine copy paper is so hard to pull off so I had to lock my seams as not to pull the threds out. it is a six inch block. I love this forum and have gotten such great tips on how to make a quilt top everyone is so helpful thank you
