Default Need help with quilt motif design

I have this quilt I did which is the first of its design for me and I am at a total loss as to how to quilt it. I know that I will do feathers in the borders, but the blocks have me stumped. It has been sitting here now for several months begging to be finished. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

It looks like the squares are 2 or 2.5 inches. I think I would do diagonal lines through the white squares in the direction the chain runs. For those at the intersection of chains they will end up with an x . Then I would do something like a flower or star in the diamond-step sections to deemphasize that they are made up of smaller blocks and make them seem a single large piece. I would not use an all over design.

I can't remember the size of this block. I remember I had a lovely template that fit perfectly and looked great. I would Google the pattern name and see how other quilter's quilted their quilt in Google photo gallery. Always able to find inspiration there.

If you are doing a feather border, I would do a feathered wreath in the large coloured squares and SITD down the white chains.

I was thinking something like this - easy to do FMQ. Of course stay within the colored blocks.

    Just a thought.

I like the feathered wreath idea too. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw your photo. Your blocks are perfect for them.
