quick question, whats the best way to wash small scraps before you start piecing them. I decided to start to use up some of my scraps,...thought I'd go with a coin quilt but don't they need prewash first?
TIA

I would not because of their size. If you must use a sock bag or zippered bad for the laundry.

You probably don't want to wash them. You will end up with a tangled mess. Wait and wash the quilt when it's finished. Enjoy using up those scraps.

I don't prewash. At all. But for the last round robin, they wanted prewashed stuff. I put the fabric in a big mixing bowl filled with water as hot as it would come from the tap and two small drops of dish detergent. Swished & soaked for about three minutes, then rinsed with cold water and ironed dry. Since then, I've decided NOT to join any more pre-wash swaps! LOL. So, my recommendation is to NOT prewash.

I would pre-wash before cutting myself.

usually we pre-wash the yardage when we first bring the fabric in...so the scraps are already pre=washed...if you were not worried about pre-washing when they were big peices i wouldn't worry about pre-washing the scraps from the yardage. but if you really feel you need to pre-wash scraps use a mesh bag or pillow case. this will help them not fray and tangle too much. be prepared to sit at the ironing board for awhile...put on some music and fix a cup of tea....ironing a basket full of scraps can be quite theraputic

I have an allergy to some of the chemicals in fabric. therefore I have to prewash. I bought myself a salad spinner for just that purpose. Works great. LOL

A salad spinner is an interesting idea for this!
