Default Need a pattern suggestion

My DGD is going to college next year, majoring in English literature. She would like to have a quilt with a quote embroidered on the quilt. I could sure use some pattern suggestions. Thanks for your help.

Will the quote be the centerpiece of the quilt? Do you know what quote she's picked out for the quilt? That might help you make a quilt pattern decision.

Good luck to your DGD - she sounds like she's going to do just fine in college!

I think the quote should probably be in the middle. The Following is what she wants on the quilt.

“Do you think I am an automaton? – a machine without feelings? Do you think because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little I am soulless and heartless? – You think wrong! – I have as much soul as you, - and full as much heart!” <o></o>

Perhaps that would look great in the center and then add a few more blocks with embroidered quotes that she likes. Or you could add those "Mom" quotes, like make sure you have clean underwear on in case you're in an accident, or nicer ones, I love you, etc.

The pattern that popped into mind with your first quote was the quilt pattern "Shakespeare in the Park", but it doesn't really lend itself to adding a quote in the pattern, but you could add a plain border to any quilt pattern you like and have the text go around the border, using an embroidery machine.
I googled a bit (Rochester, Thornfield etc.) and found this

The only other quilt would be a dear jane, but that's a lifetime commitment!

How about a bookcase quilt something like this one.

The quote could be in place of a shelf or around the edge...there is a lot of bookcase quilts to choose from.

That was such a stirring, passionate quote – I remember it well! Your DGD has good taste.

I think the bookshelf quilt is the perfect pattern for the quote and the situation. And seems like it should go quite quickly as well. Good luck.
