I would also get rid of the black. Instead, I would either use the strongest pink you have in your quilt for border and bind it with green. If you do not have enough of the pink left, I would use the pieced border from the picture and bind it in green. For some reason the black looks really strong. Good luck and please post the picture of your beautiful quilt.

Try the green next to the black, and an outer border of the DARK pink that is in the quilt next to it. The piano key border that someone suggested would also be pretty.

I agree with this -- I think the green next to the pink and then a solid dark pink. The piano key would be pretty too -- shades of pink and white, but after the green border.

If you have to have 7 more inches, go with 3 in of pink, 4 in of green and bind with black. Leave the black in that you have already on. It looks good.

Could you make the black narrow like 1 inch frame. Then make 4 pink & green nine patches to use as corner stones. Using 3 borders 2 pink, 1 green. bind in green or the other way around

Why not make a border of the solid color squares and bind it in a wide black binding?

I like piano keys with all the colors except the black, then bind it with the black. If you want to dress up the binding, a hot pink flange would do. I think leaving the black stop strip and binding making more age appropriate for a teen. If you strip piece the piano keys, they don't take long. The fun part is deciding how to do the corners.
