For those of you who use the Bernina walking foot, there is a new interchangeable sole. Your walking foot already has two, one for straight stitching and one open-toed. This one has a guide underneath it and is for stitch-in-the ditch sewing. It's expensive, $39, but I think I will be using this sole more than the other two when I remember all the borders and straight seams I have stitched in the ditch. Haven't used mine yet but am looking forward to trying it.

I just went to a Sewing Celebration at my LQS yesterday and they were demonstrating this. It is GREAT! They are backordered but I have mine on order and she was giving 20% off for the class day!! WooHoo!!

Viking has a walking foot with interchangeable plates. Don't know if Bernina's is the same. The thing I like about the SID foot, is it is very easy to keep in the ditch. the thing i HATE is that it has a single small needle hole. Great for even SIDing, but if you are trying to follow a seam and do a turn, or even stop your SID when you get to the border, it is really really hard to see when to stop. If I have a quilt where the SID can run off the end, I use it. If I have to stop or pivit, I use the regular one. Just something to be aware of.

I've had mine for awhile, but have yet to try it. Seems some on the Bernina yahoo groups love it, some not so much.
