I take out my papers after the whole piece has been surrounded. on my hexes 3/4" ones, I put green stepping stones between the flowers. then appliqued them to the pre cut borders I made about 4" wide. then finished like a regular quilt.as soon as all 6 sides have been sewn to the next piece, the papers come out. I use a Fiskers punch of a 3/4" hex, they also have a 1"hex. I like shiny junk mail or manila foldres for my papers.

Hexie Love; Faeries & Fibers; Traditional Primatives; and the Hexie Blog are some good starting places for help, inspiration, tutorials and free patterns. As for ( squaring up -- use 1/2 hexies to even the edges)
Those of us who always have an EPP project in the works hope you enjoy this journey!

I bought a 1" hex (acrylic) with the 1/4" seam allowance that I use to cut out my fabrics. I think if I remember correctly, you can get three 1" hexes from a charm. I am working on this pattern that I saw posted by Lynnie. It only takes 3 hexes to form this pattern. I am making a table runner. You might want to do an advance search because there have been many previous posts regarding various types of thread used and other information you may find valuable. Happy hexing!!
