Hello all,

I'm about to start my first quilt that will be longer than the width of my fabric so I will have to piece the long side of the border. This will be my 3rd quilt.

Do you usually do it in the middle? Or somewhere else to avoid a seam directly in the middle?

Thanks!!!

I try not to do it close to the corner and I always attach it together on the diagonal. It doesn't show as much.

I just finished my first quilt and I stitched it in the middle, I just matched the quilt square seams to my border seam and it doesn't look bad!

You're going to find that there are as many ways to do this as there are people who have actually done it...lol. What size will you need and how much fabric to you have and what type of fabric is the border to be...stripe, geometric, floral, etc?

I have sashing so I'm just doing it the same as the sashing. One piece the length of the block and then the next piece the length of the sashing. It's going to make for a great area to quilt on I think.
