How do you make the basic nine patch? I know it can be done with strips, but I have just searched (poorly, apparently) and can't find the basic instructions. I'm fairly new to quilting, and I made some sort of nine patch a year ago, but I just followed the instructor's directions and guess I didn't do any thinking about what I was doing.

So, how do you make the basic nine patch, using strips? Thanks.

Here is a nice tutorial.
It starts with the individual squares but then also shows the strip method.

Choose two fabrics, A and B.
Cut strips the width of one square of the 9-patch + 1/2".
Sew A-B-A set; sew B-A-B set of strips.
Press seams toward same color on both sets.
Cut crosswise, the same width pieces as original strips. You will need two pieces from one set and one piece from the other set for each 9-patch block.

I'm currently working on making a 9 patch queen size quilt that will be set on point. I'm using my Accu Quilt Go 2 1/2" strip cutting die and oh my how I love using that cutting machine. Once you have your strips cut and sewn then you can turn your sewen strips the opposite direction on the go cutter and you have just cut your strips into the sections that you need. It saves so much time and it is very accuarte!

Will post pics when I get it completed.
