I am very interested in the Kaleidoscope, but not sure how to find a tutorial. Also is Kaleidoscope, OBW or stack & whack all names for the same pattern? I am sure there must be explanations somewhere on QB, but I am still working on getting around the site.
thank you for your assistance, Marie from New Mexico

I'm not sure about the kaleidoscope but the OBW and S&W are similar in technique but still different. Try using the Search button at the top of the page to look for tutorials. Also, welcome to the Board!

There is an excellent tutorial on the QB done by cutebuns for OBW. These patterns all use the repeat in fabric to stack and cut different shaped pieces. The shape of the pieces and how they are put together usually determine the blocks name. One of the easier patterns is 4 patch posies because it only uses 4 repeats and 4 pieces to form a square. If you go to search and type in the names of the quilt and look for tutorials, you should find what you want to try. Check out Pictures in the picture gallery section for many examples of each style too.

ObW and Kaleidoscope, the only difference is the kaleidoscope has the 4 corners attached.

Great question! I wasn't sure either. I have made a Stack N Whack and love the resultd. I was also wondering about the OBW and Kalidescope.

I use the kaleido ruler by Marti Mitchell to make the kaleidoscope. The pieces are different. The kaleidoscope is a wedge, almost like a dresdan plate, the other one is a triangle shape.
