Default might have lost my cheap LAQ er

picked up my farmers wife quilt today. she is really reasonable. I can afford her, maybe every other month. anyway., I took it back and had her redo, the very last corner. she left a big wrinkle in it. and she aways says, 'if you don't like it', 'i'll fix it'. she went on and on, about her machine not wanting to do it, ....she just did a meandering. I told, her, yes, I put starch on the blocks before I squared each one up. finally, I said, 'gee, it might have been the dab of glue I put at the corner blocks'. I thought she was going to faint. like she had never heard of us ladies using Elmer's glue. I did tell her, that I hand washed the spots, to remove the glue, etc. before I brought it to her?
have anyone else ever 'confessed' to their LAQ that the use starch, and Elmer's glue?
anyway, the nice lady that she is, she fixed it just fine.

I have have used elmers and starch before on mine with no problems. In fact when quilting I love it when a top is starched. I have one lady who starches hers Really stiff, I had some one ask if that didn't make it harder - the answer is no in fact it makes it easier to me. My only issue might be if there was a dried nodule of glue - that might be had for the needle to go through.

Why would she give it to you with a big wrinkle in the quilting? She thought it was okay? Reasonable or not I would use her again. I know too many quilters who some get a long arm machine and then blame their shoddy work on the machine and think that is acceptable because the machine done it.

hey I had a long armer do two quilts for me with simple meandering and she gave them back to me with about 1/3 of the quilt having some cut threads she evidently didn't like and clipped, then did over. but she didn't remove the cut threads. took me one hour per quilt to remove those. never again.

thx for your comments. I used to quilt all my quilts. whatever size. and I have made a heck of a lot of quilts. but my shoulders are giving out. I fell a couple years ago. surgery on one, the other, well, yrs later, now it is hurting. anyway, I have been using her for 3 yrs. I think she might have done 25 for me. usually queens or doubles. some twins. her machine is old, it was her mothers, but she just charges me 50 for a king, then $5 less as you go down in size. usually she does a great job and my grandkids, get them. otherwise maybe not. later, i'll show you my FWQ. I just wanted to be done, and could not afford $500 at $.05 a square inch. I believe that is the going price.

Why would you use Elmer's glue on it before giving it to your LAQ? I can understand using it for bindings and/or maybe for keeping sandwich together to quilt on a domestic machine. But I can't understand using glue if you are going to have a LAQ quilt it for you. They need each part separate to mount on frame.

Wow, that was cheap. if you make more, try doing some QAYG. Even column quilts as Nancy's Notions has. anything not to stuff a whole quilt through the throat of your machine. Good luck.

ally oop, you use a dab of Elmer's washable glue at the intersection of your sashings, to line up the vertical and horizontal intersections. there is a little white square there in the brown sashings. and darn, I think I just forgot something.
