Default Opinions needed for borders

This is a Star Wars quilt I'm making for one of our grandsons. It is large enough as is, but I'd thought a border of the blue sky would tie it together better. What do you think? How wide would you suggest if I did add one? I plan to bind it in red to match the backing.

I like the blue sky idea too. Maybe half the width of the border that is there? You'd have to experiment a bit to know sure.

I like it as it is. I think a border narrower than what you currently have is going to "feel" to light-weight.

If the quilt is big enough as is, I wouldn't add another border. You just have the one & it's so beautiful with all its detail, a solid (mottled) border will end up detracting from all the lovely piecing/applique work you've done. Also, I know it can be challenging, but what about a double-sided binding -- red on the back & black on the front. I really think the black binding on the front ties everything together better; the red stands out a bit too much & draws all the focus to the red border & the red binding.

I kind of like the idea of a semi narrow border of the blue to bring that color back out toward the edge, but i would definitely audition it to decide. Nice job on the quilt! Your grandson is going to love it!

I agree with quilting buddy. (I hate the red). Love the way Bree123 did a computer audition. Does it fit a twin bed? That, aside, It is a brilliant quilt, and will be well loved.

Bree -- How did you do that? I, too, wouldn't add another border. I like the red binding, but, for ab boy, I'd go with the black, unless his favorite color is red.

Yes Bree, how did you do that? Is it a special program on your computer? It certainly helped me to decide and I also hate the red, but love the black! Thank you ladies for all the comments.
