I have used sharpies in the past, but thanks for postting this, I know better now

i never use sharpies on my quilts they bleed.

use pens or markers made for use with fabric.

I have used the laundry Markers the kind where you might mark personal clothing. they aren't as crisp as the Micro pens. the laundry markers can fade abit too.

I use my regular printer to make my labels, I tape the paper to a piece of card stock, use a cheap card making program and print a nice label. Then I iron it, so far have not faded.
