The other option is use a slightly different brown for the tree trunk to differentiate from the railing. I think that is where the confusion lies. Otherwise, it is looking good.

I love the swirly piece of fabric you used in the ocean under the cloud. My eye is just drawn into that part. It is a lovely start. I can't wait to see your finished piece.

My thoughts are put the cabana fringe behind the large upright post. Otherwise people are thinking it is a tree. I think it looks great.
