I am attempting to do a quilt for a friend whose husband died and we were all very close friends. I have the photos printed on the quilt blocks. My problem is that I have 14 portrait and 10 landscape. Any idea how I can lay it out? She has a regular size bed. I really am a novice at quilting, I mainly collect fabric - LOL.

You could add sashing as needed to the 10 landcape to make the blocks the same dimensions as the 14 portrait. This would then give you 24 equal sized blocks that then could be pieced in rows with additional sashing vertical & horizontal, or could use an attic windows pattern rather than sashing.

And I'm just going to say that generally speaking, photo quilts are not made to to used as bed quilts. They're usually made to be wall hangings.

After all, you wouldn't be able to really see the images unless you're leaning over the bed. If you want something for the bedroom for your friend, perhaps two pillows with the images would work.

I would do a column of 5 landscape, a column of the 4 portrait, a column of 5 portrait, a column of 4 portrait, and a column of 5 landscape. Columns 1,2,4 and 5 should be the same length. The longer column would be in the center. Wait, I just rethought it. Switch columns 1 and 2 and then switch column 4 and 5. Should work out and be interesting if you use the right sashing, etc.
