Default Not sure how to quilt this one - looking for suggestions

I'm not sure how to quilt this sampler. Usually I have an idea of how I will quilt a piece but for some reason I am drawing a blank on this one. I did a 3" black border and I will probably do a scroll wave in the border with a simple chain or ribbon candy in the sashing. I am stumped on the blocks. At first I thought maybe SITD around the star setting and then SITD around the center block but that seems so plain now. This is a birthday present for my husband and I want it to look nice but I am doing this on my 440 and it is a pretty fair size. Here is a link from a previous post so that you can see the top (although it does not have the border on in the picture yet).

I do have a block stencil that I was thinking about. It can be seen here:

I am using QD wool batting. The border may be done with either a black thread or a cream. Sashing would be either a matching thread or a cream. I've been tending towards matching the threads to fabric because sometimes I get nervous about the quilting but I'm not quite sure this time.

I really like the stencil pattern. I assume you'll do some stitch in the ditch to anchor the blocks. The quilt is really great. I look forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks. It was my first sampler type quilt. It was fun. I will do some stitch in the ditch to anchor. I think I may do a sample block with the stencil and see how I like it.

I think your ideas are perfect. You don't want to take away from your pieceing with too much fancy quilting. I can't wait to see this one!
