DonnaCee had an idea to start a tips topic. Because topics soon become lost and are difficult to weed through, I decided to create a "Tips Page". I went through all of the posts and organized the tips into categories. I gave each person credit for sharing their tip. When someone shares a new tip with us, I will add it to the page. Our head moderator, PatriceJ has graciously agreed to "stick" this topic to the top of the main page so you can find it easily.

You can find the official "Tips Page" by clicking on this link:

Happy Quilting!

Great! Now we don't have to search all over for them. Thank-you for doing this.

SueDor 04-15-2011 12:01 PM

Great!

Kitsie 04-15-2011 12:06 PM

Thank you so much! Don't see it in the top "menu" but will look again!

Thanks!

okiepastor 04-15-2011 12:46 PM

I cant find it in the menu either--but this is great.
There is another BIG collection of tips that I got from someone on the board who collected them here.

Would you like them? NOT organized, though

I'm sorry if I confused anyone. It's not in the Menu. This topic (the one we are posting in right now) is permanently "stuck" at the top of the "Main" forum section. All you have to do is click on the topic and then click on the link to take you to the page.

I would love to add your collection to the tips page. Can you send it to me in a PM or do you need my email address?

This is great - wondered what some of the abbreviations meant. Now I know thanks

Kappy 04-15-2011 06:42 PM

Thank you, appreciate the effort you put into it!

I read that if you use pinking shears to "trim" a fabric before you wash it that it will not fray too much. I tested this yesterday and it worked! Usually I have a mass of knots if I wash more than a few fabs. I washed a lot that I trimmed with the shears and there was just a slight fraying on a few fabs. The rest were almost perfect! Plus-you have the added benefit of knowing which fabrics have been washed already!

Lorae Radunz 04-15-2011 08:25 PM

Nice job! This will be very helpful for us "newbies". thanks

Dodee 04-16-2011 03:28 AM

I love this. Thank you so very much.
I, too, use empty pill bottles to store my used needles from my sewing machine, as well as the needles from my stick tester that I use to get a blood sample for diabetes testing.
