I have a 60mm rotary cutter, it's all I've ever used. I know a lot of you (most?) use the 45mm ones. Does anyone have both? How do they compare? Is one better than the other? Or just different?
I'm wondering if it would be worth it for me to buy a 45mm cutter.

I have both and most of the time I use the 60mm only because the size makes it easier to find. :?

I have three the 45 , the 60 and the small one ( can not remember the mm, but is is not the micro small). I tend to use the 60 the majority of the time. If I had to give one up it would be the 45 , and I would keep the 60 and the small one. ( the small is nice for curves). Yes the blades are more costly , but it lasts longer.
The 45mm has been around longer than the 60mm, so I think alot have just gotten used the 45.

Seriously, the 60mm is nice for cutting fleece - which I found dulled it almost immediately.

If one has very small hands, a 45mm might be easier to handle.

Have both, use both. Keep 60 at my cutting table - it's easier on the hand when doing a lot of cutting. Have 45 at my sewing table, nicer to use for those quick cuts & trims. Can't imagine only having one!! But then I suppose I spoil myself when it comes to my quilting:)

I have a 60mm and a 28mm and use them both. I see no need for a 45mm at all. If you feel you need a smaller one, go for the 28mm. It's great on small pieces, curves, up to 4 layers of fabric, it's easy to control and the blades are cheaper! I use mine more than I do the big one.

I have a variety of rotary cutter sizes: 18, 45 and 60mm. For cutting around curved acrylic templates I like to use an 18mm. For general fabric cutting I think either a 45 or 60mm works equally well, but that being said I prefer my 60mm because it is the most comfortable for me to use. It's also a plus when cutting thick fabric like denim or twill.

I have a 45 and a 38, I use the 38 ,99% of the time. with a new blade I can cut 6 layers but usually only do 4 at a time. I feel wobbly with the bigger blade, like walking on stilts :shock:

I have both and use them both but I prefer the 60 only because I have big hands and I can grip the handle better.
