Does anyone know the dimensions to make a template out of cardboard for either or both of these rulers. The Spicy Spiral Table runner is awesome, but I can't afford the ruler along with the pattern to make it. Someone on this forum had mentioned the template out of cardboard and I thought that might be a viable option.

I hope you find a way to make it

I mentioned making templates out of posterboard for my Spicy Spiral Table Runner (I couldn't get the ruler locally at the time). I measured and drew a 10 degree angle on the posterboard and cut the templates from it. I used the pattern to decide how long to make each piece. Even though my template wasn't exactly what was called for in the pattern, it worked out fine. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-68251-1.htm
You can see the difference in using a 10 degree angle vs. a 9 degree angle in the post from raptureready(the 2nd reply down in the same thread).

The 10 degree ruler is 22.5 inches long, 1 inch wide at narrow end and 4 7/8 wide at bottom edge. these measurments include the 1/4 inch seam. hope this helps.

Thank you so much, I am in the situation where I cannot afford the ruler, cannot buy it here in England either and so wanted to make the spiral runner.

if you make a 50 in. c and fold in half then fold in half again you will have 10 9 degree wedges in the one fourth

One thing about this pattern it is very forgiving. I liked it cause you don't have to match any points!:) Close works good.
