Advice required for thin quarters please
Hello, I have just received my order of 20 quarter yard cuts , civil war scrap collection, from the Quilted Hen, and the material is lovely. I am wondering what pattern to use though. I am leaning to scrappy dissapearing nine patch but would enjoy any suggetions. I am wondering if I do do the d9p should I use the same colour for the middle patch that is cut through , I would have to use additional fabric, or not, if so would a sharp contrast say black be too much.
Thank you in advance for your help Katherine. PS Happy New Year to you all from England |
I didn't realize that 1/4 yard cuts were called "thin quarters". . . No help with the pattern but Happy New Year to you from Indiana!

I made a pineapple from nothing but "skinny" quarters - civil war reproduction prints - and it turned out gorgeous.

I too never heard of skinny or thin, just thought it was quarter of a yard

You are absolutely correct, it did turn out GORGEOUS!!!

WOW Peckish your quilt is a knockout!! Never heard of "skinny" quarters as well.
|
That is a lovely quilt Peckish I dont know that I am up to that standard. I think I must have made up the name 'thin quarters' if no one else has heard them called this.

That civil war pineapple is really great, I have some civil war fabric and may consider this as I really like it. Grace

Hello England and Happy New Year to you too. My daughter's birthday is New Year's Day so the whole world celebrates-I always told her.
What is a thin quarter? Do you mean fat quarter or is thing another new way to cut fabric? I have always enjoyed Civil War blocks set into other period colors like bold pink and deep blues and even a muslin color that allows the quilting pattern to show. |
